A Lively Saturday Evening with David Gurteen

David Gurteen is definitely one the friendliest KMers I have met so far. He is funny, lively and shares a lot from his experiences. In his short visit to KL, he not only gave lecture to a university but also met 5 of us for a 4-hr long Saturday evening (11 August) talk at Starbucks. Those who didn’t come, I have only one thing to say- you missed the evening!

David developed his Gurteen Knowledge site in late 90’s (1999). When asked what inspired him to create that site, he said, “I always wanted to have a site and was collecting 2/3 databases of people’s information. Then I thought why not create a web space where I can park all these info and some people will find it useful. So, I developed it in early 1999 using Lotus applications”.

Knowlegde Management Policy- Sample & Template

A Knowledge management policy can include various areas like policy statement, purpose, scope, role & responsibilities of individuals & managers. The policy can focus on knowledge management processes like knowledge creation, storing, sharing and so on. The policy can focus on the soft side of KM or the hard part- technology. But we suggest not to include the IT/Intranet policy inside the KM policy. Our KM policy focuses on knowledge sharing and responsibilities of the staff.

Abstract

In the new millennium, the concern of the Government of Malaysia in developing the nation through the knowledge economy has become very apparent. In 2002, the Government of Malaysia has launched the Knowledge Management Strategic Master Plan aiming to transform Malaysia from a Production-based economy to a knowledge-based economy. This study is an empirical investigation on the sharing/transfer of knowledge in a public organisation. To achieve an in-depth study, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development of Malaysia was chosen for a case study.
