After all the online cyberspace exchanges, we're thinking "How about some face-to-face conversation?" Recently, a few KMers met and had a great time conversing with each other about KM-related topics and issues and came up with the idea of organising a Conversation Cafe.

Open to anyone who is interested in sharing ideas (and talking!), the first Conversation Cafe will be held on Saturday, 22nd July 2006 at Strudels, KL Sentral from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Six-point plan to promote KM in Malaysia

The value of knowledge sharing needs to be included in the academic curricula of Malaysian universities if the country is to promote a more open interchange of ideas in business and more creative thinking in industry. That is the conclusion of Naguib Chowdhury of Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, an advisory body to the Malaysian government, who wrote last month’s feature on knowledge management (KM) in Malaysia.

The conference will be co-organized by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Department of Information Systems of City University of Hong Kong.

Current Awareness of Knowledge Management in Malaysian SMEs

This paper investigates organizations that have received little attention in knowledge management research: Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs). The objective was to study the awareness of Malaysian SMEs of knowledge management, and a questionnaire has been deployed relating to technologies availability and usage, understanding of knowledge management, problems related to knowledge management, and main concerns perceived in implementing the approach. The results suggest that SMEs awareness of knowledge management approaches is still at a low level.
