l have read a lot on KM,hope whoever want to start KM must really understand what KM is all about,it is not just buy an ITs product such as EDRMS or record management system and start plug and play,it is actually more than that,it is about two big main things ,culture and sharing knowledge. Why KM fails? because the most of practitioner fails to create sharing culture.KM is more to collective ideas, the flat CoPs organisation will support the pyramid management system.CoPs will keep on pumping ideas and strategy to help the organization facing the challenging world,KM drives bussiness, ITs is an anabler or medium or instrument to reach every each of the CoPs members to gather info.

How to start KM?

- 1. Look at the simple work processes, try to measure if there is any gap and come up with strategies to bride the gap - do process mapping> Improve Org. processes > Get people buy-in towards sharing ideas, insights to any improvement.

- 2. Develop learning modules, black & white instruction of all the workflows- understand> review> improve> codify> store> share.

-3. Create simple knowledge portal- identify the top 3 major objectives of your organizations and start buidling your portal based on that.

...Any insights from others?

Thanks.
